Donald Cook has been the Armadale City Concert Band's Musical Director since its founding in 1987. A Music and Education graduate of the University of Western Australia, Don has extensive conducting experience of choirs and especially concert bands. He plays both pipe organ and piano. Although classically trained, his wide taste in music is reflected in the band’s repertoire. Don has been involved with music making in the City of Armadale for over forty years. He first taught music at Armadale Senior High School in 1965, and left there at the end of 1986, having been Head of Music for 22 years. Don was Deputy Principal of Perth Modern School, arguably Western Australia's best music school, for twelve years until the end of 2008. He now is a director of his own consulting company specialising in music performance and arrangement, music education and in administrative and educational counseling. |
